What to Look for When Hiring a Limousine Service by BBB

What to Look for When Hiring a Limousine Service

Everyone loves to ride in a limousine. Town cars, tour buses, limousines, and party buses… all great ways to get around. But you’re not only trusting them with your good time, you’re trusting them with some very precious cargo: you and your guests! Here’s what to look for when hiring a limousine company.

Check out the company’s reputation. This is a must. When searching for a limo company, ask your friends and family for referrals. Check the company out online. Check out the company’s review with your local BBB or an BBB Accredited limousine service at bbb.org. or RATEabiz
Don’t do business with unlicensed companies. Limousine services are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).The CPUC regulates most passenger carrier vehicles such as limousines, tour buses, airport shuttles, etc and requires that companies providing these types of services be licensed. You can check a limousine or tour bus company’s license on the CPUC’s website. When viewing a company’s license, check that the carrier status is “Active,” and that their certificate is also “Active.” Make sure that the name and address of the company you are using matches the name and address on the license - don’t do business with unlicensed companies. Check that the company is insured as well. The CPUC requires that all transportation carriers carry liability insurance.
Can you check out the limo you want in person? The Internet is a great place for limousine companies to advertise, but be wary of any company that won’t let you inspect their vehicles in person. Are the vehicles clean and in good repair? Just because you saw a beautiful picture online, does not necessarily mean it depicts the vehicle you’re actually going to get.
Does the driver know the area? Nothing could be worse that getting lost when you’re trying to make it to the wedding or your high school prom on time. If you’re sightseeing or doing a wine tour a good driver who knows the area can be a big help as well. Good drivers can make suggestions for the best places to visit or eat.
Get the price in writing. Ask about extra hidden charges, such as fuel surcharges, charges for tolls, etc. If you go over your scheduled time frame, how much will that cost? Also be sure to ask if alcohol will be provided, or if you need to bring your own. If alcohol is provided, ask about the cost. As you would expect, it is illegal for any minor under the age of 21 to consume alcohol in the limo or bus.

Interactive map & directions
Situated on Long Island Sound, and bounded to the east by the Housatonic River, Stratford has long viewed its waterfront as an important natural resource. The Town's location on Long Island Sound affords residents and visitors alike with two public bathing beaches, five marinas, several fishing piers and two public boat-launching facilities.

Within an hour's drive of New York City, Stratford is the easternmost town in Fairfield County-Connecticut's Gold Coast. Major highways such as I-95, Route 8/25 and the Merritt Parkway bisect Stratford, and provide convenient access to the entire Northeast corridor. The deep water harbor of neighboring Bridgeport provide excellent docking and terminal facilities for either domestic or overseas shipping, in addition to ferry passenger service to Long Island. Sikorsky Memorial Airport, located in the Lordship section of Stratford, remains a hub of corporate activity and provides commuter service to other cities in the northeast. Rail service provided by Metro North with connections to Amtrak further round out an excellent array of transportation choices.

Stratford has a long association with the aviation industry. Stratford became the birthplace of the American helicopter industry, when in 1939, a Russian immigrant, Igor Sikorsky, successfully flew the first helicopter at his Stratford-based aircraft plant. More than a half-century later, Sikorsky Aircraft, the world's leading helicopter manufacturer, still designs and produces state-of-the art helicopters for both military and commercial applications at its sprawling manufacturing facility on Stratford's north side. Drawn by a highly skilled and productive work force, excellent access to transportation, and a large inventory of affordable housing, it's no surprise that many businesses have chosen to call Stratford home.

The diversity of Stratford's natural resources is as rich as its cultural heritage, ranging from the 250-acre, town-owned Roosevelt Forest to the Great Meadows Salt Marsh, one of the largest unditched salt marshes remaining in New England and now a portion of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge. Stratford is host to a variety of cultural attractions as well, including the soon to be revitalized Shakespeare Theatre and Boothe Memorial Park, a municipally-owned park and museum showcasing an assortment of architecturally-unique structures and vast collection of Americana."
